Finance and reporting
How do companies automate a monthly commission run?
The short answer
Write the commission rules into code that runs on the reports your team already exports, match every result to past payouts to the cent, and keep a person approving each run before anyone is paid. At a 200-person leasing company, that took a monthly commission run from four days of work to about two hours.

What changed at a 200-person leasing company
Every month, the commission run took four days of work. We sat with the people who run it, built the tool on their systems, and matched its output against their own past numbers, to the cent. The same run now takes about two hours, and a person checks the result before anyone is paid.
All three measured results from client work are in the proof on our homepage.
How it works
Every finance tool we build follows one rule: AI operates, code calculates, people approve.
- The rules go into code. Rates, splits, tiers and exceptions are written down once, as settings your team can read and change.
- Ordinary code does the math. The same input gives the same answer every month. AI runs the steps and reads the inputs; it never adds up anyone's pay.
- Every run checks itself. It checks its inputs and its totals, and stops and says why rather than pass along a number it cannot defend.
- A person approves. Nobody is paid until someone on your team signs off.
Build it, or buy commission software?
Commission software is a good fit when your plans are standard and your deal data already lives cleanly in one CRM. It is also one more system for your team to learn and pay for.
A tool built on your own systems fits when the rules are particular to your company, the data arrives as exports and spreadsheets, or you would rather not move the team onto something new. If off-the-shelf software is the better fix, we will say so on the first call.
If only one person knows how it works
Then the risk is bigger than the hours. Mapping the work writes down every step and exception. The rules end up as documented settings, in files and accounts your company owns, so the run no longer depends on one person's memory, including ours.
What it takes from your team
- About an hour with the person who runs it, to map how the work really happens, exceptions included.
- The reports they already export each month. No new system, and nothing taken offline.
- A run alongside the old way until the numbers match.
- One person to sign off each month.
When this is not the answer
- The plan changes every month and nobody can write the rules down yet. Settle the plan first.
- The run already takes an hour or two. A tool will not earn its keep.
- Your commission software already handles it well. Use it.
We will tell you which of these applies in the first 30 minutes.
Questions people ask next
Does the AI calculate the commissions?
No. Ordinary code does the math, so the same input always gives the same answer. AI runs the steps and reads the inputs, and a person signs off on every run.
What happens when our commission plan changes?
Rates, territories and rules are settings you control. Change a rate and the next run uses it. We handle repairs and new builds.
Do we need a new CRM or ERP?
No. The tool is built on your systems, from the reports your team already exports.
How long until it is running?
First tools are typically live within a month. The new run works alongside the old one until the numbers match, then the old way is retired.
Who owns the tool?
You do: the code, the documentation and the business rules, in files and accounts your company controls. If we part ways, it stays with you.
More answers
- Can AI cut the time it takes to build a monthly board package? Yes, for the assembly: pulling, tables, formatting. One recurring report went from two days to five minutes.
- Can AI automate reporting if our ERP has no usable API? Yes. If your team can export a report, a tool can be built on those exports, with no admin access.
- Where does AI help an equipment leasing company first? In the back office: commissions, recurring reports and reconciliations. Credit and customers stay with your people.
