Hire or outsource

What is an outsourced AI department, and is it worth it?

The short answer

An outsourced AI department is an outside team that does the job an in-house AI team would: it finds where AI saves time, builds the tools on your systems, trains your people and keeps it all working, for a monthly fee. It is worth it when the same work repeats every week and nobody inside can make AI their full-time job.

What it does

  • Strategy: which processes, in which order, on which platform.
  • Build: the tools, on your systems, checked against your own past results.
  • Training: the people who use them, at their pace, until it is part of the week.
  • Running it: every month, review what is working, fix what is not, and pick the next process.

Not advice about the work. The work. You keep everything it builds.

Hire someone, use a firm, or do it yourselves?

Give it to your own people

They can get most of the way. The last 20% is a full-time job, and every hour they spend on it comes out of the job you hired them for. What they build usually has no checks, and it works right up until the day it does not.

Hire a full-time AI person

Makes sense when there is enough work for a team and someone to lead it. One hire is one set of skills, the search takes time, and what they know leaves when they do.

Hire a firm for a project

Good for one defined build. When the project ends, so does the support, and someone inside still has to keep it running.

An outsourced AI department

One team that sets the strategy, builds, trains and keeps it running, month to month. Fits when there is more than one process to fix and nobody inside should own AI full time. You keep everything, and you can stop at any step.

Is it worth it for a company your size?

Where people repeat the same work every week, yes. Estimate the hours for each process before the build, and measure them after. At a 200-person leasing company, a monthly commission run went from four days to about two hours. Over one week on a leader's recurring processes, the same measurement showed up to 50% more productive per person.

The results and how each was checked are in the proof.

What you own

Everything: the code, the documentation and the business rules, in files and accounts your company controls. Your AI accounts are in your company's name. If you stop, everything keeps running, documented so your team or anyone else can maintain it.

When it is not worth it

  • Nothing in the business repeats often enough to add up.
  • The AI built into your software already covers it. Use it.
  • You already have an AI team with time to spare.

Questions people ask next

Is an outsourced AI department the same as an AI consultant?

We do the consulting, but you hire us to build and run what we recommend. Not advice about the work. The work.

Will AI replace my employees?

That is not what we build for. We take the copying, reconciling and re-keying off their plate so they can do the work you hired them for. We do not shrink teams. We multiply them.

How is it priced?

One monthly fee for the department, quoted on the first call once we know the process. Your AI accounts are billed to you directly.

Is there a long-term contract?

No. Month to month. You can stop at any step and keep everything we built.

Who does the work?

The founders, Bruno Guberinich and Peter Davis III, with nine AI employees, each with one beat. Every piece is checked by a person before it goes out.

Your next step

You have the answer. Now ask about your business.

Thirty minutes. You bring one process, and we tell you plainly whether AI is worth doing there and where we would start.
